AGMK announces tender for construction of furnace at copper smelting plant

According to the company, the starting price set at US$98.2 million. In line with the tender terms, the winner should construct new smelting furnace with submerged lancing at its copper smelting plant on turn-key bases. The capacity of the furnace should be 17,000 tonnes of copper a year. The project should be implemented by October 2015.

The tender proposals will be accepted till 14 November 2013. The results will be announced in early 2014.

The project will be financed due to loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan, own resources of the AGMK and loans of the Uzbek banks.

AGMK produces refined copper, zinc, iron, lead concentrate and other products. At the moment, the design capacity of the plant is 147,000 tonnes of copper cathode per year. The share of enterprises makes up about 90% of silver and 20% gold in Uzbekistan.
