Afghan women to be trained in medical universities of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Kongratbay Sharipov, undertook a working visit to Doha, Qatar from 8 to 9 September 2024.

During the visit, the Uzbek delegation met with Dr. Ahmad M. Hasnah, President of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU).

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar in the fields of education and science, with new initiatives proposed to advance bilateral relations.

Special emphasis was placed on collaborative efforts in tourism, artificial intelligence, and the oil and gas industry. Opportunities were explored for joint scientific project competitions in artificial intelligence, participation in international conferences, and other events.

The parties also discussed ways to collaborate between scientific centers and universities of the two countries in the oil and gas sector.

The Tashkent University of Information Technologies plans to collaborate with Hamad Bin Khalifa University in the field of artificial intelligence, while the Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute intends to engage in joint projects related to oil and gas.

During the visit, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Uzbekistan and the Qatar-based Education Above All Foundation. This agreement will facilitate the training of Afghan women in medicine.

The agreement not only enhances the level of interaction between the two countries but also provides educational opportunities for Afghan women, supporting their training in the medical field.

This initiative highlights Uzbekistan’s significant role in stabilizing and developing Afghanistan and demonstrates the country’s commitment to strengthening the education system in the region and supporting neighboring countries.
