The draw takes place on May 20 in the host city of Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The 16 finalists have been classified on the basis of the final rankings of the AFC U-16 Championship 2008 and allocated to four pots of four teams each.

As the hosts, Uzbekistan will be ranked No 1 and drawn into position A1.

There will be five pots in total - one country pot and four (A, B, C, D) group pots to determine the group positions.

Pot 1 will comprise Uzbekistan, Iran, Japan and UAE. In Pot 2 will be Australia, Syria, China and Indonesia. Pot 3 will contain Kuwait, Oman, Vietnam and Jordan. Pot 4 will house DPR Korea, Iraq, Tajikistan and Timor Leste.

• As hosts, Uzbekistan will be designated to Position A1. The draw will continue with the next top three ranked teams (Iran, Japan and UAE) in Pot 1 to determine the top seeds in Group B, C, and D respectively.
• The draw will then continue with Pot 4, and end with Pot 2
• In order to determine the positions of these teams in their respective groups, 4 group position pots label A to D will be used.
• The first drawn team for Pot 4, will be placed in Group A.
• To determine its group position, a ball is drawn from Pot A. Similarly for Group B, another team is drawn from Pot 4, followed by a ball from Pot B.
• This procedure will be repeated until all teams in Pot 4 have been drawn and positioned.
• The same principle will then be applied to teams in Pot 3 and 2, which upon conclusion will determine the groupings of the AFC U-16 Championship Uzbekistan 2010 Finals.

The four winners of the quarter-finals will play in the semi-finals and the two winners will advance to the final. There will be no 3rd & 4th placing play-off.
