Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), the world’s leading developer and publisher of interactive entertainment, have signed an agreement to incorporate the AFC Asian Cup™ and the AFC Champions League into EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 2, EA’s hit online football title in Asia.

In the multi-year deal sealed by Singapore-based World Sport Group, the exclusive marketing partner of AFC, EA will integrate these AFC tournaments and other exclusive content into EA SPORTS FIFA Online 2 as new game features.

This additional content will give FIFA Online 2 fans the opportunity to experience the excitement and passion of Asian football.

“AFC is very pleased to welcome Electronic Arts into its family of commercial partners,” said AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam.

“At the AFC, we are committed to deliver Asian football to a wider audience and New Media will play an increasingly important role in promoting the game, particularly to the Asian youth who are our future,” added Bin Hammam.

“Football is without a doubt the most popular sport in Asia,” said Chris Thompson, VP & GM, EA Asia.

“With the phenomenal success of the EA SPORTS FIFA football game franchise here in the region, the strong growth in the online space, and the popularity of the AFC Asian Cup™ and AFC Champions League, we are truly thrilled to work with World Sport Group to bring these two top Asian football tournaments to EA SPORTS FIFA Online 2.”

“The tournaments will bring more excitement, authenticity and relevance to the Asian gamers and football fans.”
