In addition, some of the teams who have already qualified are battling for top place in their respective groups in a bid to win home advantage for the R15.

Here is a snapshot of the current situation and the possibilities for Match Day 6.

Group A

Status: Al Karamah (Syria) and Shabab Al Ordon (Jordan) already qualified.
Ambitions: First place.

Karamah are on 13 points, two ahead of Shabab. The two face each other at Karamah’s Khaled Al Waleed Stadium with Shabab needing nothing less than victory to win the group.

Group B

Status: Churchill Brothers (India) and Kuwait SC (Kuwait) already qualified.
Ambitions: First place.

Kuwait host Churchill on MD6 needing a victory to overhaul the Indians at the top of the group.

Churchill have seven points from three games in the three-team group, two ahead of the Kuwaitis. Yemen’s Al Hilal have one point and have played all their matches.

Group C

Status: Kazma (Kuwait) already qualified.
Ambitions: First and second place.

It is tight at the top with Uzbekistan’s Nasaf and Kazma on 10 points. However, Nasaf are away to Al Jaish, of Syria, who can pip the Uzbeks with a 2-0 victory.

Nasaf could win the group if they beat Jaish and Kazma drop points away to Lebanon’s Al Ahed.

Group D

Status: Al Qadsia (Kuwait) and Al Ittihad (Syria) already qualified.
Ambitions: First place.

Qadsia have 11 points, one ahead of Ittihad. The two face each other in Kuwait where Ittihad need to win to grab top spot.

Group E

Status: Al Rayyan (Qatar) and Al Riffa (Bahrain) already qualified.
Ambitions: First place.

Rayyan and Riffa are on 12 points each and need each other to slip up. Both are away from home on MD6, Riffa at Jordan’s Al Wehdat while Rayyan travel to Oman to meet Al Nahda.

If both draw, Rayyan will win the group on a superior head-to-head record over the Bahrainis.

Group F

Status: Sriwijaya (Indonesia) and Becamex Binh Duong (Vietnam) already qualified.
Ambitions: First place.

Both teams have 10 points and face away games on Match Day 6. Binh Duong are at Victory SC in Maldives and Sriwijaya play Selangor in Malaysia. Sriwijaya are ahead on a better head-to-head record.

Group G

Status: Three teams in the running.
Ambitions: First and second place.

South China (Hong Kong) and Muang Thong United (Thailand) are on 10 points, one ahead of Maldives’ VB, who also need to win to qualify.

South China are at home to VB and victory would help them win the group. Muang Thong are away to Indonesia’s Persiwa Wamena where a win would guarantee them of at least second place.

Group H

Status: Shb Da Nang (Vietnam) amd Thai Port (Thailand) already qualified.
Ambitions: None.

Da Nang, on 13 points, are assured of top place. They are five points ahead of Thai Port with Singapore’s Geylang third on three points. Thai Port play Hong Kong’s Tai Po in Phuket while Da Nang are away to Geylang.
