Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China staged an aerobatics over the Tian’anmen Square in Beijing ahead of a grand gathering celebrating the centenary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday, CCTV reported.

Before the spectacular flying performance, an air echelon flew over the Tian’anmen Square escorting the flag of the CPC.

The flag was carried by a transport helicopter and guarded by two armed helicopters on both sides.

They were followed by four transport helicopters carrying four banners with words in celebration of the CPC centenary.

Then came a total of 29 Z-10 and Z-19 armed helicopters in a formation that read "100" in the air, and 10 J-10 fighter jets forming numbers 7 and 1, meaning the CPC’s 100th founding anniversary falls on July 1 this year.

An air show was later staged at the event.
