Action from the match between Adelaide United and Bunyodkor
Adelaide United’s squad has arrived in Tashkent ahead of Wednesday’s deciding AFC Champions League Semi Final 2nd leg against Uzbekistan’s FC Bunyodkor/Kuruvchi.

Touching down in Tashkent just after 1.00am, a weary United squad headed straight to the team hotel where they will recuperate before having a training session later in the day.

United Coach Aurelio Vidmar said while the squad was fatigued after the journey, everyone was in good spirits and focused on getting the result needed for The Reds to progress to the AFC Champions League Final.

"It has been a long flight, probably one of the longest so far," Vidmar said.

"The boys will have nice rest now before we train late this afternoon."

First choice goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic’s groin strain is the only injury concern for United heading into the match and Vidmar is expected to give the 27 year old until just before kick-off to prove his fitness.

Galekovic did not train during the squad’s stopover in Singapore and is currently receiving intensive treatment from United’s medical staff in a race against time to be ready to face an expected barrage from Bunyodkor/Kuruvchi.

Staying at the same hotel as the Socceroos when they took on Uzbekistan in a World Cup Qualifying match back in September, The Reds will spend the next few days acclimatising to the conditions and the climate in order to give themselves the best possible preparation for Wednesday’s momentous 2nd leg. The team will have a familiarisation session on MHSK Stadium tomorrow.

After winning the 1st leg 3-0 at Hindmarsh Stadium, Adelaide United needs only to finish with a higher number of goals on aggregate to progress to the AFC Champions League Final (if the number of goals are even at the end of the two legs, away goals will count for two, however if no away goals are scored and the sides are equal on goals, extra time and then penalties will determine the winner).
