Finance 06/11/2015 ADB, WB plan to implement US$12bn projects in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to realize projects for over US$12 billion in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank and World Bank in 2016-2020, Rustam Azimov, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov said at the International Investment Forum in Tashkent.

Rustam Azimov noted that currently the ADB and World Bank are completing development and approval of new cooperation strategies with Uzbekistan for 2016-2020 with total cost of US$12 billion. Earlier UzDaily reported that the World Bank plans to allocate about US$4 billion in 2016-2020 under the new cooperation strategy with Uzbekistan.

Vice Premier said that the portfolio of joint projects of Uzbekistan with the ADB and World Bank is growing sustainably. Currently, the portfolio of the projects of the ADB in Uzbekistan makes up US$13 billion and the World Bank – US$6 billion.

The financial institutes finance projects in the sphere of privatization, development of financial markets, modernization of agriculture, power, infrastructure, healthcare and education.
