Uzbekistan became member of the ADB in 1995. The ADB is one of largest intergovernmental financial institutions, which provides long-term loans to development projects in Asia and Pacific region.
Projects implemented in Uzbekistan in cooperation with the ADB are focused on four key directions – agriculture, private business development, regional cooperation in transport and customs transit and improvement social sector with focus to childhood projection and basic education.
During the meeting at the Ministry, the sides discussed perspective directions of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the ADB. It was noted that it is important to implement 29 projects with total volume of financing for US$3.8 billion within the Cooperation Programme for 2011-2013.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged opinion other issues of mutual interest, the press service of the Uzbek ministry said.
