Activities of customs brokers and international courier deliveries improved

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the 54th plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Law "On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan 'On Licensing, Permissive and Notification Procedures'," aimed at improving the activities of customs brokers and the delivery of international courier shipments, was discussed.

The Law regulates the activities of customs brokers and the sphere of international courier deliveries.

Specifically, the Law introduces amendments to the Law "On Licensing, Permissive and Notification Procedures," establishing the procedure for notifying the authorized state body about engaging in activities as a customs broker and delivering international courier shipments.

It also provides for liability for conducting activities without notifying the authorized state body and for providing false or inaccurate information to the authorized body about meeting the requirements and conditions established for carrying out activities in the notification procedure.

In particular, a fine of 20 base calculation rates (BCR) is established for failing to notify about the start or cessation of activities as a customs broker and for the delivery of international courier shipments.

Senators emphasized that the adoption of the Law serves to prevent existing violations in the implementation of international courier delivery activities and customs brokerage.

After discussions, the Law was approved.
