The Central Asians, who are preparing for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™, lost their two previous friendlies against Armenia (3-1) and Albania (1-0) but Abramov wants to test more players before finalising his squad for the continental showpiece.
“We have little over than four months to prepare for the AFC Asian Cup and during this time we will finalise our team’s composition,” he said during a press conference.
“We tested many players during the last two friendly games and these matches are meant for that only. I did not call foreign based players like Server Djeparov during these matches because he is settling down with FC Seoul.
“We have a plan for the coming months and I hope to call some foreign based players in the next two matches against Lokomotiv Moscow (September 3) and Estonia (September 7) but Djeparov will not be involved in these games.”
Abramov has planned to watch midfielder Sanjar Tursunov when his Russian First Division club Volga take on Kamaz.
“I need a right midfielder and Tursunov could be a right choice. However, I will only after watching him play.”
The Uzbeks are scheduled to take on Qatar in the opening match of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Finals on January 7 next year. They also face Kuwait and China.
