About 6,500 kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines laid since the beginning of the year

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications is carrying out comprehensive work within the framework of the measures reflected in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-5953 of March 2, 2020 “On the implementation of the State Program in the Year of Science, Education and of the digital economy” in accordance with the Strategy of Action for the five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2017-2021.

In particular, in 2020 it is planned to create at least 800 thousand Internet ports of broadband communication and lay 12 thousand kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines. As a result of the implementation of measures for the further development of telecommunications infrastructure from the beginning of this year until the present.

To expand the broadband networks on the Internet, about 340 thousand subscribers of broadband access got access to telecommunication equipment. Telecommunication devices distributed by regions were installed and configured by specialists. To date, 281 thousand port devices have been installed.

In addition, in order to expand the data storage and processing center, 40 server devices and 5 sets of data storage were installed and commissioned.

To date, 1,148 new base stations have been installed and commissioned throughout the country. By modernizing base stations located in 1,483 institutions, it became possible to provide broadband Internet services.

As part of telecommunication network development projects, 6.5 thousand kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines were laid to the planned facilities. Work in this direction is continuing.
