About 60 young girls to undergo free coding courses
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- About 60 young girls received an opportunity to undergo one month programming courses for free within the CodeCraft project of Inha University in Tashkent.

This educational project was initiated by Inha University in Tashkent in cooperation with the Embassy of Great Britain in Uzbekistan.

The girls will start their education on 10 July. They will be divided into four groups of 15 people. The classes will take place three times a week.

During the courses, the participants will have an opportunity to receive basic knowledge on visual programing on Scratch and developing mobile apps for Android devices on MIT App Inventor platform. The classes will be conducted at premises of Inha University in Tashkent.

Head of the CodeCraft courses Nuriddin Nurimov commented the launch of the project: “This joint project is aimed at unlocking the potential of girls and ensuring gender equality in the ICT sector. There is such a stereotype that programming is a male profession. Girls can also become good programmers and compete with their male counterparts.”

“By choosing programming as a future profession, girls receive a number of benefits. For example, after creation of the family, during the care after the child, they can remotely receive orders and earn money, which will bring additional money to the family budget and ensure their economic independence,” Nuriddin Nurimov added.

In summer 2015 the IUT launched an educational project – Codecraft targeted at children aged between 9 to 15. The ultimate objective of Codecraft is to teach creative computing skills to children while expanding their potential and talents.

Within the project, courses on Scratch programming language, programming Android applications with MIT App Inventor 2 and creation of website are organized now.
