Strategy Analytics said that each fourth sold mobile phone in the global market was produced by Samsung (South Korea). Samsung shipped 386.5 million mobile phones in 2012 against 327.4 million in 2011. In the fourth quarter of 2012, the company sold 108 million mobile phones compared to 95 million units in the same period of 2011.

In the result, share of Samsung in global market grew from 21.2% in 2011 to 25.2% in 2012 and from 21.6% in the fourth quarter of 2011 to 24% in the same period of 2012.

Finland’s Nokia delivered 335.6 million mobile phones in 2012, which decreased by 20% year-on-year. In the fourth quarter of 2012, Nokia shipped 86.3 million mobile phones against 113.5 million units in last quarter of 2011.

According to Strategy Analytics, market share of Nokia made up 21.3% in 2012 against 25.8% in 2011 and 19.1% in the fourth quarter of 2012 against 27% in the same period of 2011.

US company Apple shipped 135.8 million mobile phones in 2012 (93 million in 2011), of which 47.8 million handsets in the last three months of 2012 (37 million in 3Q 2011). Its share grew from 6% in 2011 to 8.6% in 2012 and from 8.4% in the fourth quarter of 2011 to 10.6% in last quarter of 2012.

Fourth place among largest producers of mobile phones in 2012 was China’s ZTE. The company delivered 71.7 million mobile phones in 2012 against 78.1 million units in 2011. It also shipped 19.6 million mobile phones in the fourth quarter of 2012 compared to 24.4 million in the same period of 2011. Market share of ZTE fell from 5.1% in 2011 to 4.6% in 2012 and from 5.6% in the fourth quarter of 2011 to 4.3% in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Other vendors increased mobile phones shipment from 630.4 million mobile phones in 2011 to 635.4 million units in 2012. In last fourth quarter of 2012, they delivered 189.3 million handsets against 169.7 million in the same period of 2011. Their share in the market made up 40.3% in 2012 (40.8% in 2011) and 42% in the fourth quarter of 2012 (38.6% in 4Q 2011).
