About 1.5m people visit Uzbekistan for tourism

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The number of foreign citizens who visited the Republic of Uzbekistan for tourism in January-December 2020 made up 1,5 million people. Compared to the same period in 2019, this indicator decreased by 77.7%.

The number of citizens of Uzbekistan who left the republic for tourism in January-December 2020 amounted to 2 million people. Compared to the same period in 2019, this figure decreased by 76.3%.

Foreign citizens who arrived in the Republic of Uzbekistan from the CIS countries amounted to 1.42 million people, which reached 94.4% of their total number, from other countries - 83.8 thousand people (5.6% of their total number).

Meanwhile, the number of citizens of Uzbekistan who left the republic in January-December 2020 for the CIS countries was recorded at 1.84 million people, which amounted to 92.1% of their total number, to other countries – 158,200 people (7.9% of their total number)

The dynamics of the number of foreign citizens arriving in Uzbekistan demonstrates their decrease in the period from January-December 2019 to January-December 2020 - by 5.24 million people. At the same time, the flow of our citizens abroad decreased from 8.43 million people from January-December 2019 to 2 001.5 thousand people over the same period in 2020.

From January to December 2020, among the arrivals of foreign citizens, men accounted for 50.9% (765.4 thousand people), and women - 49.1% (738.7 thousand people).

Men (citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan) who left the country for tourism purposes accounted for 54.2% (1 085.2 thousand people), women - 45.8% (916.3 thousand people).

The largest flow of foreign citizens who arrived in our republic in January-December 2020 was noted from the following countries: Kyrgyzstan - 508.0 thousand people (33.8% of the total number of all arrivals), Kazakhstan - 424.1 thousand people (28.2%), Tajikistan - 337.5 thousand people (22.4%), Russia - 81.6 thousand people (5.4%), Turkmenistan - 60.6 thousand people (4.0%), Azerbaijan - 2.2 thousand people (0.1%) and Belarus - 1.6 thousand people (0.1%).

In particular, the flow of arrivals was observed from Turkey - 21.0 thousand people (1.4%), China - 7.2 thousand people (0.5%), South Korea - 6.7 thousand people (0.4%), India - 4.7 thousand people (0.3%), Ukraine - 3.2 thousand people (0.2%), Germany - 2.1 thousand people (0.1%), USA - 1.8 thousand people (0.1%), Pakistan - 1.8 thousand people (0.1%), Japan - 1.4 thousand people (0.1%), Great Britain - 1.4 thousand people (0.1%), France - 1.1 thousand people (0.1%), Israel - 1.0 thousand people (0.1%), Moldova - 1.0 thousand people (0.1%), Italy - 0.9 thousand people (0.1%) and Iran - 0.9 thousand people (0.1%).

The largest outflow of people to foreign countries was noted in Kyrgyzstan - 47.4% (947.7 thousand people), Kazakhstan - 26.0% (520.3 thousand people), Tajikistan - 15.0% (299.5 thousand people), Turkey - 3.1% (62.7 thousand people), Russia - 2.7% (53.2 thousand people), the United Arab Emirates - 1.5% (29.5 thousand people), Turkmenistan - 0.8% (16.6 thousand people), South Korea - 0.5% (9.8 thousand people), Germany - 0.1% (1.7 thousand people), China – 0.1% (1.0 thousand people) and to other countries the rest - 2.8% (59.5 thousand people).

Most of the foreign citizens who entered Uzbekistan called the purpose of the trip “visiting relatives” (87.8%). A significantly smaller number of foreign citizens entered for the following purposes: travel - 8.6%, treatment - 1.0%, business necessity - 1.2%, commercial trip - 1.1%, study - 0.3%.

Foreign citizens who arrived in Uzbekistan from January to December 2020 called the purpose of the trip: study - 4.7 thousand people (50.1% of men, 49.9% of women), a commercial trip - 16.3 thousand people (85.2% of men, 14.8% of women), business trip - 17.4 thousand people (87.2% of men, 12.8% of women), treatment - 15.0 thousand people (46.5% of men, 53.5% of women), traveling - 129.3 thousand people (54.4% of men, 45.6% of women), as well as visiting relatives – 1 321.4 thousand people (49.7% of men, 50.3 % of women).

In January-December 2020, out of the number of foreign citizens who arrived in the Republic of Uzbekistan under the age of 18, there were 71.2 thousand men and 69.4 thousand women, 19-30 years old - 181.6 thousand men and 104.2 thousand women, 31-55 years old - 398.3 thousand men and 389.2 thousand women, from 56 years and older - 114.3 thousand men and 175.9 thousand women.

During the same period, 50.6% of men and 49.4% of women under the age of 18 arrived in the republic for tourism purposes, 63.5% of men and 36.5% of women aged 19 to 30, 50.6% men and 49.4% of women aged 31 to 55, 39.4% of men and 60.6% of women over the age of 56.

From January to December 2020, the largest number of citizens who left Uzbekistan indicated visiting relatives as their goal - 84.7%, the smallest - travel - 7.9%, study - 5.4%, business trips - 1.2% and treatment - 0.8%

In January-December 2020, the purpose of travel of Uzbek citizens who left its borders were: 16.5 thousand people (47.6% of men and 52.4% of women) - treatment, 24.4 thousand people (91.9% of men and 8.1% of women) - business necessity, 107.6 thousand people (57.6% of men and 42.4% of women) - study, 158.6 thousand people (52.8% of men and 47.2% of women) - travel, 1 694.4 thousand people (53.7% of men and 46.3% of women) - visiting relatives.

For the purpose of travel, 7.7% of citizens aged 0-18 left the country, 21.5%-19-30 years old, 51.0% - 31-55 years old, 19.8% - 56 years and older. 0.7% of citizens aged 0-18 years old, 19.3% - 19-30 years old, 69.1% - 31-55 years old, 10.9% - 56 years old and older left it due to official necessity.

If we proceed from the analysis of the data on the distribution of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan by age who left in January-December 2020, we can conclude that their main share was made up of persons aged 31-55 years - 47.6%, 19-30 years old - 32.4%, 56 years and older - 14.1%, 0-18 years old - 6.9%.
