Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the beginning of the 2018/2019 academic year, 1,537 secondary specialized and vocational educational institutions were recorded in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Of these, number of academic lyceums reached 123, and vocational colleges - 1,414, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
By the beginning of the 2017/2018 academic year, 1556 secondary specialized and vocational educational institutions functioned, of which 123 units were academic lyceums and 1433 units were vocational colleges.
Academic lyceums in the total number of secondary specialized and vocational educational institutions at the beginning of the 2018/2019 academic year reached 8.0%, and vocational colleges - 92.0%.
The share of academic lyceums at the beginning of the 2016/2017 academic year was 9.2%, vocational colleges - 90.8%.
At the beginning of the 2018/2019 academic year, 123 academic lyceums function in the Republic of Uzbekistan, in which 70,800 people studied and after graduation 31,600 people graduated. And at the beginning of 2017/2018, the number of academic lyceums was 123, and 85,300 people were trained in them and 32,700 people graduated.
At the beginning of the 2018/2019 academic year, 1414 vocational colleges functioned in the Republic of Uzbekistan, and 656,300 people undergo training and 454,900 people graduated.
In the total number of professional colleges, the largest share fell to such areas as Samarkand, Ferghana, Kashkadarya and Tashkent. The smallest share falls on Navoi, Syrdarya, Jizzakh and Bukhara regions.
Among students in vocational colleges, the proportion of girls was 49.9%, and boys - 50.1%. When compared with the proportion of graduates, the proportion of boys reached 50.7%, and girls - 49.3%.
At the beginning of the 2018/2019 academic year, the number of teachers of vocational colleges reached 44,000 people, of which 41,000 people have a higher education, 3,000 people have a secondary special education.
At the same time, at the beginning of the 2017/2018 academic year, 73,1000 teachers of vocational colleges were recorded, of which 68,600 people with a higher education, 4,400 – with a secondary vocational.
