A photo exhibition about the Romanian composer George Enescu and a screening of a film about Queen Maria of Romania will be held in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 March 2024, the French Alliance of Tashkent will host the opening of a photo exhibition dedicated to the great Romanian composer George Enescu and the screening of the historical documentary film “Maria - the Heart of Romania” .

The event was organized by the Romanian Embassy in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National Museum “George Enescu” (Romania) with the support of the French Alliance of Tashkent. This event will be held as part of the celebration of Francophonie in Tashkent.

George Enescu is considered the most important Romanian musician. His creative personality manifested itself in various roles: composer, violinist, teacher, pianist and conductor. Started playing the violin at age 4. In 1888–1894 he studied at the Vienna Conservatory. After graduating from the Vienna Conservatory, he continued his studies at the Paris Conservatory (1895-1899). His most famous works date back to the beginning of the twentieth century, for example, two “Romanian Rhapsodies”, Suite No. 1 for orchestra, his first symphony. George Enescu was highly respected by the Royal House of Romania. He composed several musical compositions inspired by the poems of Queen Elizabeth of Romania (1843-1916). His musical activity alternates between Bucharest and Paris. George Enescu embodied the soul of the Romanian people in his works.

The exhibition will be open to visitors from 27 March 2024 to 3 April 2024. Admission is free.

The documentary film “Maria - the Heart of Romania” (2018) directed by Trevor Poots, based on archival documents, tells the unique story of Queen Maria of Romania (1875-1938) during the difficult times of the First World War. With her humanitarian and diplomatic activities for the benefit of Romania, during the era of the First World War and the Paris Peace Conference, she won the recognition and love of the whole world. Film language: Romanian, with French subtitles.
