A Museum of the History of Traditional Ceramics to be established in Rishtan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 28 January 2025, the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted Resolution No. 41 "On the Establishment of the Museum of the History of Rishtan Traditional Ceramics." According to the document, a new non-governmental museum dedicated to the rich heritage of local pottery art will be created in Rishtan.
The museum's creation aims to preserve and popularize the unique cultural heritage of Rishtan. Its activities will address the following objectives:
Identification, collection, and preservation of traditional pottery artifacts;
Organization of cultural, educational, scientific, and outreach activities;
Training youth in pottery art based on the "master-apprentice" principle;
An objective presentation of the historical significance of Rishtan ceramics;
Integration of modern information technologies into museum exhibits;
Collaboration with international museums and hosting exhibitions.
A working group has been established to organize the museum’s operations, tasked with developing a concept, defining its structure, and preparing the building for full functionality.
According to the resolution, by 1 April 2025, the building allocated for the museum will be adapted for its purposes. Large-scale exhibitions, scientific conferences, and educational programs are planned for the future.
The creation of the museum will be an important step in preserving and developing traditional pottery art, while also attracting the attention of tourists and researchers from around the world.
