Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- “Uzbekkino”, the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Promotion of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan, with the support of the Italian Embassy in the Republic of Uzbekistan, implements a number of projects, including the publication of a facsimile and a film about Avicenna’s largest manuscript stored in library of Bologna.

In the office of the project “Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in the Assemblies of the World”, a meeting was held between the Director General of Uzbekkino, Chairman of the Board of the World Society for the Preservation, Study and Popularization of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan F. Abdukhalikov and the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Uzbekistan Andreo Bertozzi.

At the meeting, issues were discussed on the creation of documentaries and books-albums of the series “Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in the collections of the world”, dedicated to the collections of Italy, as well as facsimile publications.

“We are ready to give all possible support to such a large-scale project and in the near future we will turn to museums in Italy to establish contacts with leading scientists and orientalists,” Andreo Bertozzi noted. - We have close ties and long friendships with the University of Naples (Università degli Studi di Napoli "L’Orientale"), two archaeological missions that have been working in Samarkand for several years and the University of Rome La Sapienza. I think that the specialists of these institutions will be happy to become partners of the project, to establish closer ties with Uzbek scientists and to act as authors of new book albums, the Italian ambassador emphasized. - It is important to note the deep historical ties between our two countries. The famous traveler Marco Polo, merchants from Genoa and Venice for many years traveled along the Great Silk Road and, of course, brought the knowledge of the East into the culture and science of Italy, ”said the Ambassador.

Along with this, the meeting announced plans to hold media events in Italy.

In the new year, the project outlined big plans for publishing new books, as well as filming documentaries about our great ancestors, including Abu Ali ibn Sina, said the director general of Uzbekkino, chairman of the board of the World Society for the Preservation, Study and Popularization of Uzbekistan’s Cultural Heritage F. Abdukhalikov. - For example, in the spring we are planning a joint project with the British studio Clan Production to create a documentary about Avicenna for the BBC television channel. Also, work will be done on the publication of a photo album and a film about all the well-known manuscripts of Avicenna, stored in various collections and libraries of the world. This project will be implemented jointly with the Paris Avicenna-France Association with the support of the international company Eriell Group. As for the facsimile edition of one of Avicenna’s largest manuscripts, the original, currently stored in the Bologna library, the project will be implemented in conjunction with our partners - one of the best publishing houses in Europe Mueller & Schindler and presented as part of the upcoming media events of the project - concluded F. Abdukhalikov.

A medical treatise published in the 15th century is richly decorated with luxurious, colorful miniatures, which gives it special value. In the XV century, the treatise was translated into Latin, and reproduced countless times, being the second largest number of copies after the Bible. This manuscript has been translated into Hebrew and, obviously, is a unique example of how valuable this scientific work was translated into many languages of the world.
