Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has extended a congratulatory message to the national U-17 football team, which claimed the AFC U-17 Asian Cup title on 21 April 2025 with a stunning victory in the tournament’s final held in Saudi Arabia.

In his message, the President praised the courage and determination of the young players, emphasizing that this triumph marks a truly historic moment.

"The determined and goal-driven boys went through the entire tournament undefeated, courageously defending the honor of our Motherland and achieving a record-breaking result, undoubtedly inscribing a new golden page in the history of national football," the message read.

President Mirziyoyev expressed particular admiration for the team's resilience in the final match, where, despite being outnumbered, the Uzbek side showed remarkable character and resolve: "What deserves special recognition is your valiant performance in the tense final battle against the hosts — a very strong team from Saudi Arabia. Despite the pressure and playing with just nine men against eleven, you fought fearlessly, showing true perseverance and a will to win."

The President also highlighted the outstanding performances of individual players: Nematillo Rustamjonov was named Best Goalkeeper of the tournament, Asilbek Aliev claimed the Top Scorer title, and Sadriddin Khasanov was awarded Best Player.

"Our people see in you the bright representatives of the youth of New Uzbekistan — driven by high aspirations, conquering the highest peaks — and are rightfully proud of you," noted Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In closing, the President expressed gratitude to the players' parents and coaches for their contributions to the victory and voiced confidence in the team’s success at the upcoming World Cup, to be held in Qatar in November.

"May success always be with you, my dear children!" the President concluded warmly.
