Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 June 2019, a delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Minister of Justice Hudoyar Meliyev held negotiations with the Secretary General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law Christoph Bernasconi in The Hague (Netherlands).
The Uzbek delegation arrived in the Hague to attend the 22nd diplomatic session of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCPIL).
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Benelux countries, during the talks, the parties discussed a number of issues relating to the prospects for building mutually beneficial cooperation. In particular, Christoph Bernasconi welcomed the development in Uzbekistan of a concept for the development of civil legislation.
In this regard, the parties highly appreciated the work being done to develop a separate concept for the development of private international law, as well as the preparation of the draft sixth section of the Civil Code - Application of the norms of private international law to civil law relations.
It is expected that Uzbekistan will join the HCPIL in the second half of October of the current year. The parties discussed a number of specific proposals, including cooperation to assist in the expert assessment of the above draft document.
In addition, the Uzbek side proposed to consider the creation of a joint project with the HCPIL on the development of private international law in our country. Such a project will help determine priorities and gradually develop international private law, analyze conventions and international experience, prepare analytical materials that will facilitate the ratification of the required conventions and the implementation of best practices.
HCPIL also showed interest in creating a joint Information Center on Private International Law at the Tashkent State Law University.
As it was noted on the basis of the discussions, the implementation by Uzbekistan and the Conference of joint activities on the above projects, as well as the improvement of the scientific and methodological base, the involvement of experts, specialists and a number of other specific measures will make it possible to qualitatively increase the attractiveness of the investment climate of Uzbekistan in the near future.
