A delegation of Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan visits the USA

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 January 2019, a delegation of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Minister Abdusalom Azizov arrived in Golfport (Mississippi, USA) to observe the South Strike exercise.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States, on the first day of the visit, the delegation of the Uzbek Defense Ministry visited the Training Center of Combat Training of the National Guard of Mississippi, where the Uzbek officials met with the Commander of the National Guard, Jenson Boils, and a member of the State Representative Trent Kelly.

As noted during the presentation at the Center, the main goal of the “South Strike” exercise is to increase the level of combat readiness and the capacity of units of the Armed Forces by working out various scenarios to counter the forces of international terrorism and extremism.

Members of the delegation were told that during the last two weeks, military personnel of Uzbekistan, together with units of other Mississippi partner countries - the Netherlands, Chile and Canada, worked out joint actions during counterterrorism operations in close coordination and interaction with various types and types of troops.

Congresswoman T. Kelly said that the servicemen of Uzbekistan were strikingly distinguished by the level of professional training among the military personnel of the partner countries, demonstrating excellent training, high skill and clear coordination in actions. According to him, Uzbekistan has the right to be proud of its army.

The Uzbek delegation also visited the Joint Operations Center, which deployed command exercises.

The active phase of the Southern Strike exercise is scheduled for 28 January.
