Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting was held in Seoul between Gayane Umerova, Chairman of Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, and Mr. Jeon Byeong-geuk, First Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea.
The First Deputy Minister highly appreciated the measures taken by the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan to develop art and culture in recent years.
During the meeting, various projects of the Foundation were discussed, on which the parties expressed their readiness to cooperate. The main areas of interaction will be the exchange of experience in legislative activities in the field of creative industries and joint holding of cultural events.
Gayane Umerova also personally invited leading specialists from the ministry to the IV World Conference on the Creative Economy, which will be held in Tashkent in October this year.
Gayane Umerova also met with Mr. Lee Jong-kook, Executive Vice President of the Korea Foundation. Both sides expressed high satisfaction with the effective cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea in preserving the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. Particular attention was paid to the creation of a modern conservation and restoration laboratory in Samarkand, which has become an international platform for cooperation between specialists from different countries.
Gayane Umerova also spoke about the upcoming IV World Conference on the Creative Economy in Tashkent and invited representatives of the Korea Foundation to take part in it.
The parties agreed to continue the dialogue in Tashkent in the near future.
There was also a meeting between representatives of the delegation of the Foundation with the executive director of the Bureau of Education and Cultural Cooperation of the National Museum of Korea.
During the meeting, prospects for cooperation between cultural institutions were discussed, including the possibility of organizing exhibitions from museum collections of Uzbekistan at the National Museum of Korea.
Uzbekistan is a strategic partner of the Republic of Korea in Central Asia, and two years ago the countries celebrated thirty years of successful cooperation.
