10th Meeting of the Uzbek-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission Held in Budapest
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 July, the 10th anniversary meeting of the Uzbek-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission was held in Budapest. The talks were co-chaired by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, and Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó.
During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on further strengthening trade and economic cooperation, launching new joint projects in the fields of industry, transport, energy, and education. Particular attention was given to the ongoing implementation of the joint industrial zone project in Tashkent Region and to expanding the presence of Hungarian capital in Uzbekistan’s economy.
As a result of the negotiations, two memorandums were signed — one on continuing cooperation under the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme, and another on industrial cooperation between the Hungarian companies Basalt Group and MOL.
The session concluded with a business forum focused on exploring opportunities for Hungarian companies to participate in major Uzbek initiatives, including the “New Tashkent” project, digital transformation efforts, and infrastructure development.
The meeting was held in a unique setting — the Groupama Aréna stadium, located in the Ferencváros district of the Hungarian capital. Following the official part of the event, the heads of delegation toured the multifunctional sports complex, which accommodates around 22,000 spectators.
