Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Relations between Germany and Uzbekistan have always been characterized by good and close ties. This point of view was expressed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Gunther Overfeld, addressing the participants of the Uzbek-German video conference dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Germany.
According to him, 29 years of cooperation have been filled with exciting history, and despite all the difficulties, relations between Germany and Uzbekistan, going back to the distant past, have always been characterized by good and close ties. These relations received a significant impetus with the election of Sh.Mirziyoyev to the post of President of Uzbekistan and the beginning of his reform policy.
The ambassador called the existing excellent relations at the highest level, regular close exchange on issues of politics, economy and culture a feature of the new stage of Uzbek-German cooperation.
G. Overfeld pointed to an increase in trade relations between the countries by more than three times, to a significant expansion of joint cooperation in the field of development policy, to building up cooperation in the scientific sphere. It is gratifying that more and more scientists from Uzbekistan are actively working in Germany, contributing to the strengthening of relations between the countries, he said.
Thanks to the policy of openness and the great attention that is now being paid to the sphere of culture in Uzbekistan, we are witnessing a significant rise in German-Uzbek cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the diplomat emphasized. In this context, he announced that next week, March 12, a series of famous German films will begin showing and invited everyone to view the paintings at the Goethe Institute.
At the event, organized by ISMI in cooperation with the representative office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Central Asia, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Gunther Overfeld, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Federal Republic of Germany Nabijon Kasimov, the regional authorized representative of the Konrad Adenauer in Central Asia Mr. Ronnie Heine, representatives of the deputy corps of Uzbekistan, experts of think tanks and educational institutions of the two countries.
