Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Airports officially joined Airport Council International.
Airports Council International (ACI), which is the International Association of World Airports, was founded in 1991 and is headquartered in Canada. There are regional offices in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin and North America.
As of January 2020, this organization unites 670 members and serves 1,979 airports in 176 countries. ACI also works closely with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO).
Online negotiations on joining the ACI ended at the end of 2020, in which Ravshan Ismailov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airports JSC, Ulugbek Bektashev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airports JSC for commerce and tourism development, Sanjar Erkinboyev, Head of the Project Office, took part from the Uzbek side Uzbekistan Airports JSC, from the ACI side - ACI General Director Stefano Baronsi, business manager Sevda Fevzi and project coordinator Yulia Plyushnina.
During the negotiations, attention was paid to the issues of further strengthening international relations by ensuring the safety of passengers at all international airports of Uzbekistan, organizing high-quality and qualified passenger service, modernizing the republic’s air harbors at the level of world requirements, expanding the volume of aircraft flights. The documents submitted to the organization by the Uzbek side were unanimously approved. Opinions were heard on the fulfillment of membership requirements, as well as on the next tasks set, in addition, further plans for cooperation were determined.
If we consider that in the decrees and resolutions adopted by the Head of our state at meetings in the field of industry, special attention is paid to the adaptation of services provided at international airports of Uzbekistan to modern requirements, increasing their attractiveness, studying and implementing foreign experience, then the entry of Uzbekistan Airports into the ACI can be called one of the most important directions of the industry development.
Membership in ACI primarily guarantees the reliability of the services provided, as well as reforming the air transport system in the country, bringing the industry in line with international standards, developing tourism, and accelerating the flow of investments. It also makes it possible to use ACI’s experience in taking global measures to combat coronavirus infection, warning and protecting passengers from the threat of a pandemic, as well as developing effective programs in this direction.
In general, the interests of airports in the field of aviation of any state are important for promoting the developed policy for the development of aviation, ensuring environmental safety and stability with the support of new, reliable partners. From this point of view, it can be said that Uzbekistan Airports has taken a worthy place in the list of the Airports Council International (ACI), which indicates another step towards success in the future historical period of the development of Uzbekistan’s aviation.
