Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 November 2020, in the format of video conference within the framework of the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) with the Republic of Korea, a conference was held on overcoming the consequences of COVID-19 and sharing knowledge in the post-COVID period.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Korea, the Development Institute of Korea, the Eximbank of Korea, as well as the Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency.
At the opening ceremony of the Conference, the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, Vice Minister of Economy of the Republic of Korea Kim Yongbom, President of the Korea Development Institute Choi Jong Pyo, as well as the Nobel Prize Laureate in Economics, Professor of the Massachusetts Institute technologies Esther Duflot took part.
During the event, issues of countering the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as measures to strengthen and develop multifaceted international cooperation in the post-like period, were discussed.
Within the framework of the conference, a plenary session was organized, during which representatives of relevant departments, organizations and institutions of Korea presented a new strategy for multilateral cooperation of international organizations in the post-image period and considered the prospects for enhancing the role of the KSP program in establishing effective practical interaction.
They also reviewed the implemented response and mitigation measures aimed at strengthening institutional and managerial capacities and ensuring the development of health infrastructure, which have shown good results not only in Korea, but also in neighboring countries such as Vietnam and Indonesia.
The need for close coordination and interaction at the international level was noted to address issues and challenges in combating the spread of the pandemic, providing medical assistance to the population and restoring economic activity. In this context, the conference participants showed interest in the implementation of joint events for the exchange of experience, the introduction of innovative technologies in the healthcare sector, and also expressed their readiness to participate in the implementation of a comprehensive strategy of multilateral cooperation of international organizations in the post-image period.
The purpose of the "Knowledge Sharing Program" is to provide, free of charge, extensive consultations in various sectors of the economy and industry from the leading government organizations of Korea.
Uzbekistan has been cooperating with Korea within the framework of this program since 2004. Since the start of cooperation, 19 projects have been implemented in the areas of ensuring sustainable economic growth, enhancing trade, developing the energy sector, improving the activities of free economic zones, introducing information and communication technologies, as well as strengthening health and education systems.
