Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On Tuesday, China’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Zhang Jun, said that China firmly rejects "groundless accusations" against itself and opposes the "political virus". He made this statement after US President Donald Trump criticized China’s measures to combat the COVID-19 epidemic at the UN General Assembly.
During the pre-recorded video of the speech, D. Trump noted that "we must bring to justice the nation that has spread this plague throughout the world - China."
Speaking about the pre-recorded address of the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, Zhang Jun said that China firmly rejects all baseless accusations against itself and opposes the "political virus".
According to the Chinese diplomat, the world is facing serious problems related to COVID-19. Problems such as unilateralism, protectionism and bullying also continue to escalate. “At the moment the world is at a crossroads. The world needs more solidarity and cooperation, not confrontation. We must build mutual trust, not spread a political virus,” he said.
Zhang Jun noted that China will firmly support multilateralism and the United Nations, which plays a central role in international affairs.
