Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Speaking on 22 September at a debate at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping put forward proposals to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a pandemic, countries around the world should prioritize human health and lives, Xi Jinping said, adding that "no case should be left unattended, and no patient should be left without medical attention."
He called on the nations of the world to build solidarity to cope with the pandemic and stressed the importance of the leading role of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the global response to the disease.
“We must follow the instructions of science, fully support the leading role of WHO and together fight the pandemic,” said Xi Jinping
“Any attempt to give a political shade to this problem or to hang labels must be stopped,” the head of China added.
The PRC President also called for comprehensive long-term measures to prevent and control the pandemic. “The world’s largest economies must strengthen the coordination of macroeconomic decisions,” Xi Jinping said. "We must not only give a boost to our own economy, but also make our own contribution to global recovery."
In addition, Xi Jinping pointed out that the world should show its indifference and help developing countries, especially African ones.
“The international community must take timely and decisive action in areas such as debt relief and international assistance, ensuring that the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals are met, and helping these countries overcome their difficulties,” Xi Jinping added.
