Uzbekistan increases electricity output to 38.5 bn kilowatt hours

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan increased electricity production by 4.5% year-on-year in January-September 2010 to 38.5 billion kilowatt hours, the State Statistics Committee said.
In the first nine months of the year, the enterprises produced 13.1 million Gcal of heat energy, a year-on-year decrease of 1.8%.
Over 98% of Uzbek electricity is produced at stations belonging to Uzbekenergo state joint stock company. The company unites seven thermal plants, six hydroelectric plants and three combined heat and power plants.
The set capacity of power stations of Uzbekistan makes up 11,965 megawatt (thermal power stations and combined heat and power plants – 10,619 megawatt and hydro power stations – 1.346 megawatt).
